Hidden Gardens of Lambertville Tour June 10

Tucked behind the quaint streets and historic store fronts of Lambertville, N.J., are lush hidden gardens as varied as the neighbors who inhabit this eclectic riverside city.

Ten such gardens will be on display during the Kalmia Club’s 10th annual Hidden Gardens of Lambertville Tour on Saturday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The stone paths and manicured gardens that surround the Martin Coryell House (North Union St.) feature brilliant daffodils, tulips, iris, peonies, foxglove, roses, day lilies and more. The connected Italian-inspired outdoor garden rooms of Rita and Eric Pfenninger (George St.) include rhododendrons, forsythia, herbs, vegetables and flowers.

An exquisite rose-covered pergola is the highlight of one entrancing garden (Clinton St.) and a calming koi pond is the centerpiece of another private retreat (George St.).

The self-guided tour begins from the Kalmia Clubhouse at 39 York Street. Tickets are available that day for $15 or $10 in advance. Local musicians Bliggins and Goines, winners of the 2005 New Jersey Folk Festival Songwriters Contest, will perform from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Mary Sheridan Park adjacent to the Kalmia Clubhouse.

Visit www.kalmiaclub.org or call 609-397-2537 for tickets or more information.
