EN-GARDE: MASTER SWORDSMAN TO TEACH
Lambertville, NJ – Swashbucklers will hit the streets of Lambertville on Wednesday, July 5, at 11:45 a.m. as they conduct a sword fighting class sponsored by the Lambertville Area Chamber of Commerce in the Lambertville Station parking lot at 11 Bridge Street.
Eight would-be Musketeers will learn the finer points of engagement, parry and thrust from David Bronovicki, a Grand Knight in the New Jersey Renaissance Festival. Bronovicki, who is a 13-year veteran of armed and unarmed stage combat, has participated in more than 1,000 sword fights. Lambertville Mayor Dave DelVecchio and members of the Lambertville Area Chamber are scheduled to be among the class participants.
Sword Fighting 101 is a preview of “A Medieval Summer Night’s Dream,” which kicks off Lambertville’s participation in Second Saturdays - evenings of fun, food and the arts celebrated from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month.
Period actors will provide Medieval-era entertainment including sword play, strolling minstrels, juggling jesters, knights, wenches and squires in eight key locations throughout Lambertville. On Second Saturdays the majority of shops and galleries in town remain open until 9 p.m. and offer visitors light refreshments and special offers.
