Greene and Greene Gallery Presents 14th Annual Discoveries Show

One of the most exciting shows Greene and Greene Gallery hosts each year is the annual
Discoveries Show. This year’s exhibition, opening June 24th, features both well recognized artists who are exhibiting in this area for the first time and newer emerging artists who are just bursting on to the art scene. This exhibition offers artists a unique opportunity to introduce their work to new collectors. This 14th annual Discoveries show includes ten artists from across the United States. They are: Emily Amey, Jennifer Bauser, Davide Bigazzi, Lisa Cimino, Lisa Crowder, Hilary Hachey, Janis Long, Kristin Lora, Betsy Meyers and Keiko Mita.

Keiko Mita was born on tiny Rebun Island of of Japan. Its sometimes story and isolated setting is a powerful influence on Keiko’s aesthetic vision. She attended Hokkaido University as a fine arts major. Later, she came to North America to expand her vision studying in Vancouver, Canada and New York City. After working for major jewelry manufacturers she produced her first jewelry collection in 1995 in Japan and in 2002 launched K. Mita Designs in NYC. Produced in 18k, diamonds and semi-precious stones the pieces range from the geometric to organic. Keiko has won numerous awards for her jewelry designs.

Raised in rural southwestern Ontario, Janis Long now lives and works in southeastern Pennsylvania. Inspired by her mother’s transformation of everyday apparel through new and inspired accessories, Janis originally worked with vintage beads, Bakelite buttons and belt buckles to create a successful line of vintage jewelry. Working under two talented jewelry artists, Bethany Barry and Diana Contine she expanded to work in fine silver using silver beads and unusual wire wrapping techniques. The use of stained glass, semi-precious stones and fine art glass, while still incorporating her trademark vintage beads and buttons has taken Long’s jewelry making to an exciting new level.

Davide Bigazzi is an internationally known artist who brings old world metal working techniques to the new world. Bigazzi’s art reflects his passion for texture and form as well as his mastery of traditional chasing and repousse techniques. From a young age, Bigazzi apprenticed under one of the last remaining Italian masters of this expressive art and for almost 20 years he has created evocative jewelry by applying original artistry and old world craftsmanship. In 1995 after years of working as a bench jeweler, designer, model maker and production supervisor, he won the International Artisan’s Design Award in Italy and returned to his first love of designing and hand fabricating jewelry. Bigazzi came to the United States in 2002 where his jewelry in sterling silver and 18 karat gold is shown at a variety of galleries and shows.

The Discoveries Show opens Saturday, June 24th with a wine and cheese reception from 2 to 5 pm and closes Sunday, August 6, 2006.

Greene and Greene Gallery, located at 32 Bridge Street, Lambertville, features an ongoing exhibit of work in wood, metal, glass, fiber and clay as well as fine art jewelers. Bucks County Concert Series Brings World Class Entertainment to the Locals

Bucks County Concert Series Brings World Class Entertainment to the Locals

Stockton, NJ, May 17, 2006 silent partner presents... The Bucks County Summer Concert Series. This collection of concerts, to be held in the Delaware valley, promises to heat the summer up. The artist roster includes music legend Richie Havens, the explosive opening performer of Woodstock '69 whose energy was a catalyst for the motion of the entire festival. Also performing will be Leon Russell, whose "A Song for You" was covered by Ray Charles, Donny Hathaway, and recently Christina Aguilera and Herbie Hancock. And when you consider the addition of Bernie Worrell, founding member of Parliament Funkadelic, this concert series offers a level of entertainment seen only once in an amber moon. At venues in Newtown, PA, Sellersville, PA, and New Hope, PA good music will be happening.

This summer-long celebration of music will be kicked off with an authentic Salsa Dance party at the Eagle Theater in New Hope, PA on June 23. World famous percussionist, 15-year veteran of Grover Washington Jr.'s band, and 5-year Alicia Keys band alumni, Pablo Batista and his salseros will provide the Cuban and Island rhythms . . . you bring the swingin' dance chops and get ready to light up the floor. Bring a friend or meet some local singles. www.pablobatista.net

Later in the summer experience... Space Fantasy: A Journey from Earth to Beyond at the Sellersville Theater on July 14. This is a special cinematic experience with The Sound Scientists featuring special guests like Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame member Bernie Worrell, the Chops Horn section (Rolling Stones, Police, Sugar Hill Gang, etc.), Onree Gill (musical director for Alicia Keys and multi-platinum arranger), George Laks (12-year Lenny Kravitz veteran and keyboard wizard), and lots of local talent like Audric Jankauskas and Chris Shepherd. Enjoy interstellar visuals as they collide with ethereal music on state of the art equipment.

The Sellersville Theater has this and more to offer for a full-fledged sensory experience. If Grammy Award winner Leon Russell (Newton, PA July 28) and lyrical activist Richie Havens (New Hope, PA August 5) aren't your speed, watch out for the video-infused come back performance of local groove-tronic funk masters the Sound Scientists. Learn more at www.soundscientists.com.

Enjoy an evening with Grammy award winner Leon Russell at the Newtown Theater on July 28. This legendary theater, known for being the oldest working movie theater in the country, is opening its doors to music for the first time. Pop music's most anonymous superstar, Leon Russell has produced and played on sessions with everyone from Frank Sinatra to Bob Dylan to the Rolling Stones. Leon's unmatched vitality maintains his spot as an important performer of our time. Find out more about this living legend at www.leonrussell.com.

At the tail end of the concert series, Richie Havens will be gracing the Eagle Theater in New Hope, PA with his presence and message of political activism on August 5. Although written decades ago, a number of Richie Havens' songs still resonate with today's turbulent political times and maintain their confidence in expression. Opening for Richie Havens will be soulful, jazz vocalist Erika Rose, co-author of Alicia Key's multi-platinum single "A Woman's Worth". Check out www.richiehavens.com for more information on Richie Havens.

The brainchild of silent partner productions CEO Ian Kelly, this series promises to blow the dust from the rafters at places like the Eagle Theater in New Hope, PA (New Hope's only 300-plus seat venue), the Newtown Theatre, and the Sellersville Theater, which Martin Sexton called "the best sounding room ever". www.st94.com

With this sort of phenomenal talent coming to a venue near you, there are several great excuses to avoid a trip to the city. The Bucks County concert series is bringing a summer-load of fun and an all-star lineup of musicians to some surprising places and raising some eyebrows in the process.

If you enjoy great music you'll want to join the celebration in the Bucks County
area.
